I begin today the episode of the year 1945 of this series devoted to the Second World War. We've come a long way since the first episode of 1939! Europe and the world have been at war for five years.
Erratum: at 33:36, it’s about the philosopher Simone Weil (19091943) who stayed in Auschwitz. It's a mistake: it was the French politician Simone Veil (19272017) who stayed there when she was 16. She came back alone, without her parents or her brother. This has been fixed in the full 7 hour release.
