This black & white promotional film is about the Caterpillar Diesel DR7 Tractor . This was made in 1937 based on the roman numeral copyright shown.

Opening credits: Caterpillar Tractor Co presentation (:08:27). A globe goes round and round. Wherever work is needed to be done, Caterpillar DIesel equipment is there. Shots of the engineering department as well as the proving grounds. Women open files of the records for the tractors. Shots of the equipment at work. Files being plucked (:282:57). Operator's instruction books are shown. Caterpillar equipment is shown at work. A credit on screen reads: IT'S UP TO YOU (2:573:36). Caterpillar Diesel Tractor pushes over a log. Tractors do more work in 10 hours of operation than a car does in 1000 hours of driving. To get the best out of your tractor, keep dirt out of the engine. How to do this is explained and shown in great detail with an animated engine. A man cleans the fuel injector. An animated explanation shows how to tell if the fuel injector has dirt or muck in it (3:377:57). More detail on cleaning valves and pumps. Always check with your instruction book before attempting to replace parts (7:589:11). Clean fuel is needed, buy clean fuel. And make sure that when adding fuel that the cap is clean. Precautions are always important to keep dirt from the fuel. Dirt settles in fuel so waiting 24 hours to draw the fuel will draw mainly clean fuel (9:1211:44). Dirt can still cause trouble by getting into the engine from the air. An air filter is good for your tractor's engine. Check the air cleaner (filter) frequently. Clean fuel and water is always good. The engine's cooling system needs water but soft water is better than hard water (11:4514:23). An experiment that shows lime deposit is performed. It is very bad so use soft water if possible. A man cleans his engine (14:2416:25). Lubrication is required for certain parts of the tractor as well. Other preventative maintenance is shown (16:2618:00). Caterpillar equipment is doing what it can to make sure you get what you deserve (18:0118:33). End credits (18:3418:43)

The electric drive D7E entered service in early 2009. An agricultural version without the blade and rippers is commonly used by farmers.

The armor was developed by the Israel Military Industries (IMI). Later, the US Army developed a remote controlled version of the D7G for mineclearing applications.
