In my opinion, it is to use a strategy called cluster research, cluster genealogy or sometimes known as the F.A.N. Using cluster research is a proven way to turn over every rock. This video demonstrates a trick using Excel spreadsheets and census records to make the process much faster.

UPDATE: If you're having trouble with the paste function, putting everything into one cell... Try the Paste button at the top left, dropdown and choose Paste as Special, then choose Text. That should work.
