I'm Melissa James, an American who loves experiencing how the rest of the world lives. My hair color makes me stand out in some countries, but I strive to immerse myself in the local attire and traditions. It's a fun challenge to learn basic phrases in new languages, which is a must when you are a guest in another country. My goal is to visit all seven continents before I turn 70 (I've been to four so far), and all 50 states before I turn 50 (I've been to 49 of them, just Hawaii to go!). I also love sharing Southern traditions with people I encounter in my travels. Back home in Virginia, I'm a writer and graphic designer running my small ad agency, Creative Copy & Design. My marketing career spans more than 20 years, so I also enjoy promoting travel companies (where my work and hobby overlap!). I'm married with two teenagers and very active in my community and church.
